This is the white sauce I use for pizza toppings. This will make roughly 300ml (or, 3 ladels, 3 pizzas). Can be individually ziplock bagged and frozen for up to 3 months.
Perfect for my Fig and Pig pizza recipe... that I haven't posted yet. I'm a bastard.
Ingredients
Method
- Place a small saucepan on medium-low heat, add the olive oil and the minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly so the garlic doesn’t brown.
- Add the Italian seasoning, salt and pepper and stir. Add half of the milk and stir.
- Sprinkle in the flour and whisk quickly until it is a thick paste. Let cook and bubble for another 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in the remaining milk, whisking constantly. Once incorporated, add the cream.
- Add the cheese and stir, then turn the heat to low and let simmer 5-10 minutes to thicken.
- Serve warm or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5-7 days or, freeze for up to 3 months.
